Great news just in. Downhill finals today saw Gee Atherton First and Steve Peat second in the men and Rachel Atherton first in the ladies with Josh Bryceland and Sam Dale doing a 1-2 knockout of the worlds Junior Men in that race. Not only is this great news for the Animal Commencal team following the teams amazing family triple victory at Andorra that was downgraded to a triple of Podium visits at Fort William putting them and british mountain biking back on top of World Mountain Biking. It is sad to see Steve Peat pipped to the title again on the line if anyone has worked the hardest to earn the rainbow jersey it has to be Steve. Greater news though is the downturn of the recent Aussie domination of the sport with Sam Hill posting super human results earlier in the season that made him seem un stoppable however that has now been put to rest.It is interesting to see 4 french men on the podium with the French Federation having been suspended by the UCI for a year which will mostly effect the status of the federation. The Brit women were able to pop 3 riders into the top 10 with all three being amongst the most popular riders in the sport. In the junior men three top tens too with Danny Hart missing a podium place by a second.results
