Great news just in. Downhill finals today saw Gee Atherton First and Steve Peat second in the men and Rachel Atherton first in the ladies with Josh Bryceland and Sam Dale doing a 1-2 knockout of the worlds Junior Men in that race. [Read more →]

resole your 5.10’s or Vans
May 14th, 2008 · No Comments
Well after nearly a whole lifetime of mountain biking moving from toeclips to spd on the week they came out .. I trundled on then moved back to flats with the purchase of a Cove G-spot no problems with the pedals but found getting the right shoe with sticky sole and grip for standing on slippy sloppy mud banks was often an unacceptable compromise of one or the other… [Read more →]

UK Olympic Training Camp Venues announced
March 4th, 2008 · No Comments
Hardly a great shock the Olympic organisers have announced the location of training camps. These camps are not essential many countries prepare out side of the host nation and in the uk we will be paying every nation who comes to use facilities in the UK a grant of £25,000 to use these venues. It is interesting to note that they found nothing suitable in London, however looks like a bit of a gravy train on how they have passed around these camps.. nothing at all in the West Midlands or North East and Wales looks like a bit of a pay out for national government funded organisations .. all sadly rather predictable [Read more →]

British Cycling’s MTB Commission
December 27th, 2007 · No Comments
British Cycling have announced the latest line up of the MTB commission who are the faces that help steer the sport forward. It is made up from members who have the experience of officials, promoters and riders to hopefully keep everything progressing. Not often controversial they were handed a rather dirty stick last year when asked to sort out the team selection to the 2007 MTB World Champs in Fort William after the unpopular XC team selection process to represent Great Britain by the officials, who’s main responsibility is world class performance and Olympic selection, overlooked just about anyone not expected to win a medal in Beijing in 2008

MTB Racing at Penmachno
December 27th, 2007 · No Comments
British Cycling have just awarded the running of the 2008 National Mountain Bike Cross Country Series to ‘Thetford MTB Racing‘ who have in turn announced that a round this year will be held at Penmachno over the weekend of the 10/11 May 2008 with the XC on the Saturday and a 50/75/100km MTB Marathon on the Sunday. This will be the first time XC racing has returned to Snowdonia since we last held our old events at Nant BH at Llanrwst before the building of the Marin Trail sort of got in our way. More details of the series can be had on the 2008 XC NPS Web Site. [Read more →]

Is 2008 the time for a new bike.. how about one of Gee Atherton’s?
December 27th, 2007 · No Comments
We all love buying a new bike at the One Planet Adventure Shop at Coed Llandegla. However sometimes a trip to eBay can be a rewarding experience. There are of course many pitfalls apart from the ghost bikes that will never arrive or the stolen ones that will be followed by the Police. Never forget you might have to trawl through tens of pages with those radical 18 speed downhill race bikes that weigh more than a Sherman Tank and are about as resilient in a jump as a bowl of Jelly (all for £99 of course). One of the best tips to spot a genuine bike is to see one you know and the seller actually appears to be the person you last saw riding it…such a bike has just turned up for a bargain £3000 on eBay for the downhillers out there… it is Gee Atherton’s 2007 Animal Commencal Team DHSupreme [Read more →]
